The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Grayson, Saskatchewan-based Ottenbreit’s Meats are warning consumers with allergies to soy protein not to consume Ottenbreit’s Meats brand beef burgers, as they contain soy protein that is not declared on the label.


The following Ottenbreit’s Meats brand products are affected by this alert:


1. 10 Quarter Pounders sold in a 1.15kg carton
2. 20 Beef Burgers sold in a 5lb/2.27kg carton
3. 42 Beef Burgers sold in a 5kg carton


Only products purchased after 1 May 2002 are affected by this recall.


Ottenbreit’s Meats is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace, where they were distributed in Saskatchewan only.
