Dutch retailer Ahold has announced plans to move its corporate head office.

The retailer will move its corporate centre from Amsterdam to Zaandam in the north of Holland in the second quarter of 2013 it said today (1 October).

The corporate executive board and around 150 employees, which are all housed at the Amsterdam office, are all expected to relocated to its offices in Zaandam. The office houses the management teams and support organisations of Ahold Europe, Albert Heijn, Etos, Gall & Gall and albert.nl.

“This move will enable us to maximise synergies and save costs” said Dick Boer, CEO of Ahold. “In Zaandam, we will benefit from co-location with our colleagues in Ahold Europe, while continuing to be located near to Amsterdam with its business and financial community and Schiphol Airport.”
