French bakery group Brioche Pasquier has invested EUR7m in the sixth production line at its plant in Aubigny-en-Artois.

The additional capacity is dedicated to Pasquier’s pocket-size brioche brand, Pitch, which is available with chocolate and jam fillings but for which new flavours are planned. It is expected to create 15-20 jobs over the next two years.

The plant not only supplies northern France but also Belgium, Germany and the UK.

“We’ve been encouraged by our growth in the UK over the full range of our products and we serve this market directly from our Aubigny-en-Artois plant,” a Pasquier official told just-food today.

The plant is expected to generate turnover of EUR47m in 2012 compared to EUR41m last year. Pasquier’s global turnover in 2011 totaled EUR550m.

In April, Pasquier acquired US-based Galaxy Desserts.
