Indian food giant Britannia Industries has launched yoghurt and cheese lines.

The flavoured yoghurt line, which rolled out this weekend, is available in three variants: mango, vanilla and strawberry.

The product is “fortified with five active nutrients: iron, iodine, calcium, zinc and vitamin A”, the group said and is designed to be a “convenient … and healthy snack” produced in a set form for easy eating.

“Flavoured yoghurt has emerged as a distinct segment in the last one year,” said Vinod Menon, head of dairy for Britannia. “Internationally, flavoured yoghurt – in both frozen and fresh form – is well-developed and seen as a healthier option.”

The range is available with an RRP of INR15 per 100g pack initially across Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore Hyderabad and Chennai.

In addition, Britannia has launched a gourmet cheese line as a trial across a select number of markets in India.

Britannia Gourmet is a range of exotic cheeses, including Emmental (Swiss) and Gouda (Dutch), in both slices and spreadable wedges.

The range is imported from Austria as a result of the conditions in the country being “ideal for developing cheese with true and distinctive flavour”, Britannia said.

A spokesperson said no further details of the product range will be released until the trial phase is complete.
