“We are continuing to invest in our Everyday Essentials range,” the spokesperson said.

The retailer is also investing in expanding its premium Specially Selected range, which includes what it describes as “hand-picked foods”, from sauces and meats to desserts.

“We are gradually expanding our Specially Selected range of products as they are popular with our shoppers,” the spokesperson said. “The Specially Selected Christmas range will include products such as our Orange Topped Christmas pudding which flew off the shelves when it first launched last year.

“We continue to work with McCann Manchester for media buying and creative work,” the spokesperson added.
