French Sugar group Tereos announced today (4 February) that it recorded “strong growth” in its 2009/10 results.

For the period, net profit was up 98.3% to EUR150.3m (US$204.1m), while turnover grew 6.7% to EUR3.53bn.

The group said that in an environment marked by volatile markets and further consolidation of the sector worldwide, the group still recorded an increase in profit margins.

“In an international environment that is becoming increasingly marked by great volatility in raw material costs and currencies, Tereos has recorded strong growth in its operating results, while reducing its debt ratio,” said Tereos president Philippe Duval.

“The creation and listing of Tereos Internacional, the strategic partnership in Brazil with Petrobras and the major French grain co-operatives are all assets that allow Tereos to prepare for the future.”
