Should the IPO go ahead, Natural Grocers will be the latest US retailer to list. In February, Roundy’s Supermarkets floated on the NYSE.
The company will also be the latest firm in the US organic sector to list on the stock market. In March, US organic food manufacturer Annie’s Inc went public in New York.
Organic sales in the US remain strong. According to the Organic Trade Association, sales increased 9.5% in 2011 to US$31.5bn.
