Kraft Foods has announced plans to expand a biscuit plant in Saudi Arabia that it operates with local conglomerate Olayan Group.
The expansion at the Dammam site, Kraft said, forms part of its plan to double production capacity of its Nabisco biscuit products in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council region. The plant is a joint venture between Kraft and Olayan and has been operating for around a decade.

The company would not disclose the capacity numbers for the facility, but a spokesperson said: “The expansion will give us 2.5 times production volumes”.
Around 8,500 sq m of space will be added to the production facility, including a new production line for Kraft’s Oreo and Nabisco biscuits, it said. The Dammam facility also produces Ritz crackers and Belvita biscuits.
“This announcement marks the expansion of our operations in the region and is a reflection of the increasing popularity of Nabisco brands, reinforcing our positioning as ‘a global snacks powerhouse’ not only internationally but also in the region,” said Lawrence MacDougall, president of Kraft’s Middle East and African division.
“Saudi Arabia is one of our strategic markets in the Middle East and Africa region. The expansion is also a manifestation of our decade long partnership with the Olayan group which is steadily growing.”
