UK firm Tangerine Confectionery, the UK firm behind brands including Butterkist popcorn, has admitted job losses are “likely” as it searches for a “leaner” manufacturing network.
The company is to restructure its factory operations to “modernise” its production network and improve efficiency.

Talks with staff have started but Tangerine said redundancies were likely. The firm did not indicate how many jobs could go but said it expects the “majority” of the losses to be “within operations”. Some support functions could also be axed.
Chief executive Graham Hunter said: “It is with regret that we have to make this announcement so close to Christmas. Tangerine Confectionery must ensure that it operates as efficiently as possible to meet the demands of today’s market and to safeguard the long term future of the company and its workforce.”
