UK milk processor Robert Wiseman Dairies has said that the UK’s Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has reopened its investigation into alleged price-fixing in the Scottish fresh milk market.
“We have always maintained that there is no case to answer and we are obviously surprised and disappointed that the case has been reopened,” chairman Alan Wiseman was quoted by Reuters as saying.
The OFT had closed the inquiry because it said there was not enough evidence to prove the allegations.
Robert Wiseman’s finance director, Billy Keane, told Reuters that the inquiry had been reopened after new information had come to light.
Keane said the company was keen to cooperate fully with the OFT so that the case could be concluded as quickly as possible.
