Allied Bakeries, the UK bread arm of Associated British Foods, is to introduce traffic light nutrition labels on its Kingsmill products.
The new labels will appear on Kingsmill lines next month. The move indicates ABF has joined the likes of Premier Foods plc in signing up to a voluntary scheme, backed by the UK government, to use labels that combine nutrition information with traffic light colour-coding.
Darren Grivvell, director of brands at Allied Bakeries, said the company was “dedicated to openness and transparency about the nutritional value of our products”.
He added: “We currently have front-of-pack GDAs to help consumers enjoy Kingsmill products as part of a balanced diet. This new step to colour code will help consumers see the nutrition information at a glance.”
