Canadian convenience stores giant Alimentation Couche-Tard has posted a 31.9% increase in Q1 sales, which it largely attributes to its expansion in the Midwestern US with the acquisition of Dairy Mart Convenience Stores.

The company explained that the Dairy Mart acquisition is expected to add about C$700m (US$693.8m) to its annual sales.
Meanwhile, same-store merchandise sales were up 7% in the Q1, while same-store litre sales of gasoline rose 7.3%.
