Mars Inc has sought to expand in what it called “the world’s fastest-growing chocolate market” with the launch of its Galaxy brand in India.

The US group already sells its namesake brand, plus Snickers, Bounty and Twix, in India but said the launch of Galaxy meant it was entering a new segment.

“The moulded chocolate segment is the fastest growing. India is a very important market for Mars. With this launch, we are entering an extremely dynamic segment,” MV Natarajan, general manager for Mars’ chocolate business in India, said.

Natarajan added Galaxy would be available at an “affordable price point” of INR15 (US$0.24).
