The CEO of ailing French pork processing giant Gad, Christophe Peter, is to quit his post just weeks after a rescue plan for the company was accepted.
A spokesman for Gad declined to comment on Peter’s departure but a senior union official said staff had been informed of the change.

“All we know is that he’s leaving. Whether it’s of his own choosing or he’s been sacked we don’t know,” the official said.
Peter will stand down next week and be replaced by Olivier Le Bihan, who heads Gad group company, Aubret.
The rescue plan focuses on the closure of one of Gad’s two abattoirs and shedding around 900 posts. Had the court rejected the plan, Gad would have faced liquidation.
