Colruyt, the Belgium-based retailer, is planning to open a second distribution centre for click-and-collect service Collect&Go as it looks to grow sales made through the service.

The company, which has stores in Belgium, France and Luxembourg, said the site in Erpe-Mere, west of Brussels, would open next autumn.

Colruyt said it wanted to “meet the rise in the number of online orders”. The centre will ease demands on the retailer’s stores, where most of the orders through Collect&Go are processed.

The retailer said it wanted to treble the sales from Collect&Go over the next three to five years. It did not provide data on current sales from the service.

The company already processes orders through a site in Zaventem, east of Brussels, and said the new centre would help it “offer a better supply line to the west of the country”.

Reginald Roussel, head of Collect&Go, said: “Colruyt wants to make the life of its customers easier. This is also why we are there. With a second distribution centre we will be able to meet our customers’ needs even better and more efficiently.”
