US company J&J Snack Foods has added to its portfolio of pretzel products with the acquisition of New York Pretzel.
J&J said Brooklyn-based New York Pretzel produces soft pretzel lines sold in the north east of the US to retail and foodservice customers. The purchase price was undisclosed.

Gerald Schreiber, J&J’s president and CEO, said: “This is a natural extension of our soft pretzel product category and we welcome New York Pretzel to our family of brands.”
J&J’s portfolio includes the Superpretzel and Pretzel Fillers brands. It also sells brands including Whole Fruit sorbet, Daddy Ray’s fig and fruit bars and Tio Pepe’s churros.
