A court in Quimper issued a winding-up order for the plant in Pleucadeuc in Brittany.
The plant, which has been losing millions of euros a year, was given a reprieve in September when Doux’s fresh products division was liquidated. In the intervening months, 270 jobs have been axed at the abattoir. which currently employs 147 workers.
Doux told just-food yesterday (15 May) 80 staff would be offered other positions at the company.
The company, which has been in administration since last June, is set to present its business continuation plan to its works council tomorrow.
