US sauces and spices heavyweight McCormick & Co. has announced a “multi-million” dollar expansion plan for its Canada facility.

The French’s mustard and Frank’s RedHot and Cholula sauces owner said its plant in London, Ontario, which produces the local Club House brand, will now also manufacture French’s Ketchup after a contract with a third-party Canadian supplier was scrapped in favour of in-house production.

McCormick has not given exact details of the amount it is spending on expanding the plant, nor what its expansion plans will entail.

It did say that the facility will blend, bottle and package French’s Ketchup using Canadian-grown tomatoes with full production ramping up this week.

Trevor Squires, general manager at McCormick Canada, said: “We know how much Canadians love French’s and how passionate they are when it comes to Canadian-grown, produced and packaged products. We are proud to further our investment in the London area by expanding our bottling capabilities as we continue to deliver our delicious Canadian ketchup to families across the country.”

The Club House brand has been based in London for more than 135 years and covers spices, herbs, seasoning blends, extracts, food colours and sauce mixes. The brand is targeted at both retail and foodservice channels in the country.
