Dutch retail giant Ahold has said the chairman of its supervisory board, Rene Dahan, is to step down.

Ahold said today (6 March), that Dahan will step down in October after almost a decade in the role. He will be succeeded by outgoing CEO of ING Groep Jan Hommen with effect from 1 October.

Hommen was previously vice chairman of Ahold’s supervisory board and served as chairman of the audit committee from 2003 to 2007.

Dahan said of his departure: “I have announced my intention to leave the Ahold supervisory board knowing that the company is well positioned for the future. I welcome the company’s proposal to appoint Jan Hommen as a new supervisory board member and as my future successor.”
