The Centre for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI), a self-appointed public health guardian, released a statement saying that The Chicken Whopper Jr has 350 calories compared to 580 calories for a regular Chicken Whopper.

Furthermore, Washington-based CSPI said that the BK Veggie Burger weighs in at 350 calories, less than any other hamburger on offer at any chain.

Burger King can’t relax just yet however as CSPI, in its comparison of fat and calories, also found that the five worst fastfood items were all at the chain. These include BK’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream Shake with 760 calories and 29 grams of fat. A large version of this shake, with 1,200 calories and 42 grams of saturated plus trans fat, is “the kind that causes old-fashioned heart attacks,” said CSPI.

Meanwhile, CSPI praised McDonald’s for its “nutrient rich bargain” Fruit ‘n Yogurt Parfait, and Wendy’s quick service restaurant chain for its Mandarin Chicken Salad.
