The closures are part of Stollwerck’s aims to streamline production of its Gubor brands products. Barry Callebaut, which bought Germany’s Stollwerck last year, said that given low production volume for Gubor, it was not prepared to invest heavily in the Muenstertal and Muellheim factories.
Other plants, including the Norderstedt plant near Hamburg, would take over the two factories’ production, reported Reuters.
