French poultry group LDC has acquired Polish firm Drop for an undisclosed sum.

Situated in south-west Poland and employing around 450 staff, Drop has an annual output of 20,000 tonnes, generating an annual turnover of EUR43m.

“With this operation, LDC becomes Poland’s third-ranked poultry processor, extending its presence in the country, gaining access to new breeding grounds and integrating two modern production facilities,” LDC said.

The acquisition will also add to LDC’s product mix in segments such as goose, duck and preserves, the statement added.

LDC already operates from three sites in Poland, one of Europe’s fastest-growing markets for poultry.
