Indian snack maker Parle Products has confirmed it will be streamlining its portfolio and cutting the number of brands from 50 to 20.

Speaking to just-food today (27 November), general manager Pravin Kulkarni explained the group was looking at ways to better support its “power brands”, which include Parle-G, Monaco, Hide & Seek and Krack Jack.

“It’s difficult to support so many brands,” said Kulkarni. “We are working on reducing the number of brands to also reduce our marketing spend.”

Kulkarni said the process had already begun, and the company expects the pruning to be complete in the next “two to three months”.

He declined to provide details of which brands would be axed.

“There will not be any impact to production or capacity,” he added, insisting job levels would not be reduced as a result of the move.
