Turkish nut manufacturer Tadim has pressed forward with global expansion plans, opening its European headquarters in Germany.

After receiving support from Germany Trade and Invest (GTAI) and NRW.Invest, the firm has said it will invest around EUR7m (US$9m) over the next three years at the site in Emsdetten in north-west Germany. Thirty new jobs will be created immediately and a further 20 planned in the run up to 2017.

The new headquarters will be used to process and package nuts for its consumer market and manage its lines in Europe and North America. The majority of the investment will be spent on production, packaging, and logistics equipment.

Mehmet Er, managing director of Tadim’s German arm, said: “We hope to expand our market position in Europe significantly with this investment. We liked Emsdetten because of its central location and its proximity to major markets.”

A major packaged-nut player in Turkey, Tadim carries 18 different products with 104 SKUs.

“Tadim’s investment in Germany is a significant move as the company not only plans to sell its products to its growing German customer base, but will also start local processing and distribution to neighbouring countries and North America,”  Daniel Lindel, senior manager food and nutrition at GTAI, added.
