Lantmännen Unibake, the bakery division of Swedish agri-food co-op Lantmännen, is to rebuild a factory in Belgium that was hit by fire earlier this year.
A blaze destroyed the production unit at the site in Londerzeel, north of Brussels, in June. The company said construction would start early next year. It hopes to have a production line ready by the second half of 2016, which will make baguettes for foodservice and retail customers in Belgium, the Netherlands, France and Spain.

Lantmännen Unibake is aiming for a second line to be ready for operations by early 2017, although it insisted it was "too early" to say which products would be made in that part of the site. It added there are "good prospects" of investment in a third line at the site.
The group has three plants in Belgium – the two others are in Brussels and Moucron. According to its website, the group has "almost 40 bakeries" in 18 countries.
