Taiwanese food regulators are preparing to introduce a ban on partially hydrogenated oils (PHOs) from processed food products.

According to a policy statement on Taiwan's Food and Drug Administration website, the ban on PHOs will be officially announced in late 2015 or early 2016. The body said it will solicit expert opinion before a full ban is confirmed. Food makers will have three years to remove PHOs from products.
