French food firm Fleury Michon has reported a jump in profit for the first half of the year after seeing increases in sales in both its domestic and international operations.

For the six months ended 30 June, Fleury Michon reported an increase in net profit from EUR7.8m (US$8.7m) to EUR8.2m. Operating profit rose to EUR15.4m from EUR12.5m.

The company said its Fleury Michon branded products saw supermarket sales increase 8.4%, mainly driven by the company’s three core segments – charcuterie, prepared meals and surimi.

Internationally, it witnessed “soaring sales” of Fleury Michon branded products in Canada, combined with a favourable EUR/USD exchange rate.

Overall, sales during the first half increased 7.4% to EUR374.5m.

Fleury Michon said, given the current “business momentum” and with the desire among consumers to support the French agricultural sector, it predicts revenue growth for the full year of 2015 compared with last year, and “stable” net profit.
