Dean Foods has announced the resignation of non-executive chairman Tom Davis.

The news was announced in a regulatory filing on Friday (7 August), just ahead of the US milk supplier's second-quarter earnings report, which is expected today.

No reason was supplied for Davis' resignation though the filing did say his resignation is "effective immediately".

Davis served as the chairman of the board of directors, on the company's audit committee, compensation committees and executive committee.

According to his biography on the Dean Foods website, Davis had been a director at Dean Foods since 2001.
