“McCain Foods has had to review its ready-made meals operation in Hastings, New Zealand in response to the impact of the rising New Zealand dollar on its export markets, principally in Australia,” the group told just-food.

“Around 20 positions have been affected by this decision, however, McCain Foods hopes to offer positions to a number of those affected in its Hastings vegetable plant.”

Reports in New Zealand said McCain is proposing to cut year-round production back to just ten days a year.
