Quorn Foods is expanding its range of frozen meat-free products, with the addition of "pub family favourite" gammon steak, bacon lardons, as well as chorizo and mozzarella girasoli and ravioli.

The new products join Quorn's Everyday range of meat substitutes. The company said the addition of gammon steaks fill a gap in the market for more meat-free meals in the frozen category and demand for more centre plate options. Bacon lardons are designed to be a "convenient and versatile" ingredient for recipes like carbonara or soups and salads, Quorn continued. Meanwhile, the company is adding two options to its meat-free pasta line with its chorizo and mozzarella girasoli and ravioli – both of which are made with egg pasta.

"We’re excited to be expanding our Everyday range, which continues to go from strength to strength. Demand for meat free products shows no sign of abating, as 55.2% of the UK population now buys in Free From (across all areas). This represents a market of around 13m households so there is huge scope for further development and product innovation to meet the needs of these consumers and continue to build loyalty to the sector based on top quality and taste," Julian Cooke, head of UK category management at Quorn, said.

"Listening to what consumers in the market are telling us and aiming to give them the variety of mealtime favourites they are looking for is a key focus for us. The Quorn Gammon Steaks are a perfect example of this. The product is a familiar part of British family dining and ours is a healthy product which will appeal also to non-vegetarians as there is no compromise on taste."

The products are available throughout the UK with an RRP of GBP1.97-2.49 (US$3.07-3.89).
