It was announced in March the Solway Foods site, which employed 930 staff at the time, would close. The plant makes chilled products including layered salads and coleslaw for UK retailers. There are 341 staff left at the facility.
Regarding plans for the site, the 2 Sisters spokesperson said it was “far too early” to speculate. There will be a transition period as existing customer contracts are transferred over to the new owners.
