The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning consumers with sensitivity to sulphites not to consume Double Happiness brand Lotus Root in Slices Dried, as this product may contain sulphites which are not declared on the label.

Produced in China, the dried lotus root is sold in 227g packages bearing UPC 4 891689 000124. Vancouver, BC-based Tun Hau Enterprises is voluntarily recalling it from the marketplace, where it was distributed in Alberta and Manitoba.


Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with sensitivity to  sulphites. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.
