US ice cream maker Jeni's has announced the closure of its production facility in Ohio once again, after discovering listeria.

The company had resumed production on 13 May after shutting the facility initially in April and recalling all of its products having found a sample of its ice cream that was contaminated with listeria.

The firm produces frozen yoghurts, sorbets, and ice cream sandwiches.

"We have stopped making ice cream and are investigating where and how it may have re-entered the facility. Since resuming production on May 13, we have been testing every batch of ice cream we have made and holding it until we learned that the testing did not detect any listeria," the company said in a statement on its website dated 12 June.

Jeni's is the second ice cream firm in a matter of months to be caught up in a listeria scandal. In early April, Blue Bell Creameries suspended production at its site in Oklahoma after three deaths were reported as a result of a listeria outbreak linked to its products.
