Groupe MOM-Materne Mont Blanc is expanding capacity at its applesauce unit GoGo Squeez through the opening of an US$85m manufacturing facility in Nampa, Idaho.

The site will process and package GoGo Squeez healthy snack products "from apples to applesauce", the company said.

"The healthy on-the-go snack category continues to grow rapidly here in the US and this new facility was built to be in close proximity to major apple growing regions, allowing us to source the best ingredients for our consumers," Michel Larroche, the company's CEO and president, said.

GoGo Squeez is available at more than 50,000 locations nationwide including Walmart, Target, Costco, Kroger, Publix, Albertsons, Sam's Club, Harris Teeter, and Whole Foods Market. The brand generates approximately $200m in retail sales.

The expansion creates 250 new jobs.
