Public health minister Sudarat Keyuraphan said yesterday [Sunday] that FDA tests had shown that if there are residual levels of nitrofurazone, furazolidone, dimetridazole or ronidazole in meat products, they could prove carcinogenic to human consumers.
A fifth chemical chloramphenicol has also been banned after complications arose with exporting Thai meat to the European Union (EU) when the antibiotic was present.
