Atria is acquiring Aalbaek Specialiteter, Denmark's largest manufacturer of organic cold cuts.

In an announcement this morning (6 May), Atria said Aalbaek Specialiteter is one of Europe's biggest premium organic meat suppliers. Products include various premium-grade cold cuts, pates and bacon. Atria added the deal will strengthen its position in cold cuts in Denmark, where demand for organic options has "increased steadily".

Financial details have not been released but Atria said the deal will lift its annual sales by around EUR10m (US$11.2m)

The transaction includes the Aalbaek’s brand, all business agreements, a charcuterie and a production plant in Farre. The production of Aalbaek products will be transferred to Atria's production plant in Horsens, the company said.

Atria said "key personnel" will transfer but did not comment on the level of job losses in production. The company was not immediately available for comment.
