Dale Farm has bought the speciality cheese brands at Fivemiletown Creamery in a move that will see 20 jobs saved.

The purchase means production will continue at the County Tyrone site. Thirty workers, however, will still be made redundant.

According to reports, Fivemiletown had come under financial pressure after losing a major contract 18 months ago.

In April this year, Fivemiletown Creamery was sold to Glanbia Ingredients. GLII however only bought the milk pool from the Fivemiletown suppliers and not the cheeses.

Speaking to just-food today (20 May), a spokesperson for Fivemiletown Creamery said: “Glanbia were always anxious that the speciality brands would be retained within Northern Ireland, so they are very pleased that is going to happen.”
