Food and facilities management provider Sodexho has revealed that its Schools Services Division has signed new agreements over the past few weeks to provide services to ten public school districts.

With less than a month to go in the group’s FY, the division has sold a record 39 new accounts totalling US$355m in managed volume revenue.
“As local communities around the country struggle to maintain their funding in these difficult economic times, an increasing number are looking to Sodexho to help them provide high quality programmes at a reduced cost,” said Rod Bond, president of Sodexho School Services. The division now serves nearly 480 school districts across the US.
Sodexho’s largest new account is Guilford County School District in North Carolina. As the third largest district in the state, Guilford educates 66,000 students in 97 schools. Previously the Guilford was self-operated.
Sodexho was also awarded food service contracts at several other school districts that were previously self-operated; including Marysville School District 25, Three Rivers School District in Oregon, the Piedmont School District in Oklahoma and the Lincoln Unified School District in California.

By GlobalDataSodexho also won several accounts from competitors. Monroe School District and Airport School District were long-term competitor’s accounts. The School District of West Allis in Wisconsin was also a competitor’s account.
In addition, Sodexho expanded its relationship with Beaufort County Schools in South Carolina with the award of the district’s food service contract and custodial contracts. Sodexho already preformed all maintenance functions for the district, which has 16,000 students in 28 schools.
