US better-for-you popcorn brand SkinnyPop has announced the acquisition of local tortilla firm Paqui.
Paqui manufactures tortillas and tortilla chips made with unbleached, untreated flour, or by stone grinding corn.
SkinnyPop said Paqui would become a "sibling brand" to SkinnyPop in its better-for-you range of snack food brands.
Tom Ennis, president and CEO of SkinnyPop, said: "Paqui brand tortilla chips are some of the best chips I’ve ever tasted, and we are excited about using the SkinnyPop platform to help introduce the Paqui brand to more consumers around the country.
Doug Lyon, the founder of Paqui who now joins SkinnyPop as vice president of creative and innovation, added: "At Paqui, we have always been committed to making tortilla chips and tortillas that not only taste great, but that are better-for-you as well. Tom and his team at SkinnyPop have the same mission and we are excited to join this family of better-for-you snack food brands."
