However, a spokesperson for Burton’s declined to comment when approached by just-food today (12 May).
A spokesperson for 2 Sisters, speaking to just-food, refused to shed further light on the matter. “It’s our company policy not to comment on rumour and speculation. This remains the case with Fox’s/Burton’s,” the spokesperson said.
Burton’s which manufactures Jammie Dodgers, Wagon Wheels and Cadbury biscuits, itself changed owners at the end of last year. Canadian pension fund Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan snapped up a majority stake in Burton’s from private-equity groups Apollo Management and CIBC.
At the time, 2 Sisters was speculated to have been interested in buying Burton’s with another private-equity firm, Clayton, Dubilier & Rice.
