E. Leclerc is trialling a click-and-collect point at one of the French grocer’s motorway service stores, the first time a retailer in the country has taken the concept to motorways.
The stores are designed to offer convenience to the shopper on their “way to work or vacation”. Depending on the success of the pilot, they will be available on motorway service areas.
The shopper is able to place their order online and collect their groceries on the day and time they choose from the Drive store.
The pilot store is located on the A8 between Frejus and Cannes. It will carry more than 8,000 products.
“The Drive … offers the advantages of shopping online without the hassle (shipping, waiting time of the delivery …), and identical hypermarket prices,” the firm said in a statement.
