Privately-owned UK food manufacturer The Billington Group has acquired local peer TSC Foods, the owner of the Glorious soup brand.

The deal, made for an undisclosed sum, was announced today (3 February). TSC Foods joins businesses including chutney maker English Provender Company under the ownership of The Billington Group.

Gary Blake, Billington’s chief executive, said TSC Foods was “a fantastic acquisition” for ths business. “We believe that TSC Foods is a perfect fit for our long term strategic vision. This is an exciting time for both The Billington Group and TSC Foods as we look forward to successfully delivering our strong customer focus and sharing our passion for innovation, quality and customer service.”

David Bondi, TSC Foods’ MD, will continue to lead the business as its site in Scunthorpe.

He said: “We are delighted to join a family owned company that is focused on the food sector. We have grown significantly over recent years with a focus on innovation, quality and service to all our customers and are proud to continue that success as part of a larger group”.

TSC Foods was formed over 20 years ago. As well as owning the Glorious brand, TSC Foods supplies chilled and frozen products to the retail, foodservice and B2B markets.

It acquired the Glorious brand in 2009. Glorious! was launched in 2008. It was endorsed by UK celebrity chef Marco Pierre White and originally developed in collaboration with UK-listed food and beverage firm Conival.

The Billington Group’s seven other businesses also included Bar Foods, Billington Food Ingredients and 26% of Wholesome Sweeteners.
