The facility was inaugurated at a ceremony attended by the President of Serbia, Tomislav Nikolic, last week (2 September). It started operating last month.

In a statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade, the Indonesian authorities said the factory was one form of “non-traditional” market penetration that Indofood is pursuing in Serbia with the “full support of the Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade”. It said EUR11m (US$12.4m) was invested in the project.

Indofood, which is Indonesia’s largest noodle maker, manufacturers food including noodles, dairy, snacks and seasonings. The company is growing its consumer branded sales. In its most recent financial update, for the first half of this year, Indofood said its consumer branded products division accounted for 52% of sales, up from 50% in the first half of 2015.
