Spanish supermarket company Plus Supermercados has recently revealed that it aims to control a total of 220 outlets by the end of this year.

At the end of last year, the company controlled 190 outlets.


Earlier today [Thursday], Plus Supermercados opened an outlet in Morazarzal in the province of Madrid. It plans to open a further two supermarkets in Javea, in the eastern province of Alicante, and in Villamartin, in the southern province of Cadiz, in a week’s time.


Plus Supermercados also announced a name change to Tengelmann Espana, which reflects the ownership of 60% of its stock by German discount chain Plus Warenhandelsgesellschaft, which is a subsidiary of retailer Tengelmann.
