Pladis, the international snacks business of Turkish food group Yildiz Holding, has refused to be drawn on a report it is looking for bidders for UK crackers brand Jacob’s.

Sky News yesterday reported Pladis had appointed investment bank Oppenheimer to oversee an auction of Jacob’s, which the manufacturer acquired when it bought United Biscuits in 2014.

Approached by just-food, Pladis declined to comment on what a spokesperson called “rumours or speculation”.

Jacob’s was one of a clutch of UK snacks brands attained by Yildiz when it paid a reported GBP2bn for United Biscuits almost four years ago, alongside McVitie’s, Go Ahead and Carr’s.

In 2016, Yildiz set up London-based Pladis to house its international snacks brands, which also include Godiva chocolate.

Last summer, Yildiz reiterated its plan to float Pladis in London.
