The supply agreement builds on Avondale’s existing partnership with Asda, which stocks the firm’s range of Country Kitchen coleslaws and traditional vegetable broth.

Avondale was founded by brothers Harry and Derek Geddis more than 50 years ago and employs 400 people.

Philip Conway, head of sales, commented on the new contract: “We have a long working relationship with Asda and are delighted to secure this new business on a UK-wide level. The deal will mean a significant increase in turnover for us.”

Michael McCallion, the purchasing manager for Asda Northern Ireland, said Avondale had become one of the supermarket’s “most-trusted suppliers” since the retailer entered Northern Ireland 11 years ago.
