Northern Ireland’s Neill’s Flour has made a “significant investment” and expanded its operations by taking a 16,000 sq ft unit in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter.

Neill’s, the trading name of ABF Grain Products, said the move, to Channel Commercial Park, is due to increased demand for its products as a result of the renewed popularity of home baking.

The company – owned by Associated British Foods – is a producer of traditional flours – including self-raising, plain, soda bread and coarse wholemeal – and mixes for Irish wheaten bread and buttermilk scones.

It said the new warehouse facility – near George Best Belfast City Airport – will allow it to store finished flour products.

Neill’s said the move is just the beginning of several major plans for the future.

Karl McCrum, the company’s sales and marketing manager, said: “Belfast city centre has been home to us since 1867 and we continue to produce many of our products here. Having a new warehouse nearby was essential.”
