The company has hired Price Waterhouse and Ernst & Young to assess the value of the subsidiaries, reported Reuters.
“It’s true that in Paraguay and Peru they are assessing the value of the assets. There are no interested buyers yet or anything more specific than that,” a company spokeswoman told Reuters.
Ahold is currently in the process of selling Santa Isabel to Chilean group Cencosud, but the deal does not include Santa Isabel’s assets outside Chile.
The Ahold spokeswoman said that in order to sell the Chile operations, the company needs to “strip out the value” of the businesses in Paraguay and Peru where it has a 30% market share, reported the Wall Street Journal.
