Flor Healy, until recently CEO at Kerry Group’s consumer foods arm, has taken up the chief executive role at UK chilled and ambient foods business Samworth Brothers.

Healy left Ireland’s Kerry in September after 14 years at the helm of a Kerry division marketing brands including Richmond sausages and Cheestrings cheese. He took up his new position at Leicestershire-based Samworth Brothers this month.

In effect he replaces Alex Knight, who stepped down as CEO of Samworth last March, although group holdings board director Mark Samworth has, in the interim, taken on the chairmanship of the group executive board until a successor to Knight could be found. Knight became Samworth Brothers CEO in January 2016.

Samworth Brothers – which supplies own-label to UK retailers, as well as brands including Ginsters, Soreen and SCI-MX – points out Healy has led food businesses in areas ranging from ready meals, cooked meat, pastry products, cheese and dairy products.

He will be based at the company’s group centre in Melton Mowbray.

Samworth Brothers is a fourth-generation family company with 19 businesses, employing around 8,500 people in sites in Leicestershire, Cornwall, and elsewhere in the UK.
