The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is joining with the Livestock Development Department (LDD) in a bid to establish sanitary meat markets throughout the city.
According to the Thai News Service, the initiative will enable high-quality meats produced outside the city to be sold safely in inner city areas.
Deputy Director-General of the LDD, Yukol Linlamtong, explained that initially 43 fresh markets are joining the initiative, out of a total of 160 inner city markets.
He added that the LDD will also be working to improve the standards at slaughter-houses in six local provinces.
